If clothing has moved toward quieter, more restrained silhouettes this season, accessories have picked up some of the slack, with Italian jewelry and bag designers pushing sculptural, statement-making pieces that stand out against otherwise minimal outfits.
Gold jewelry, in particular, has leaned into bold, architectural shapes: chunky chain necklaces, cuff bracelets and hoop earrings sized well beyond the delicate, minimalist jewelry that dominated the past several years. Much of it references mid-century Italian jewelry design, reworked with contemporary proportions and, in several cases, produced using recycled gold as part of broader sustainability efforts within the industry.
Bags have followed a similar logic of structure and presence. Top-handle bags with a rigid, architectural shape have overtaken the slouchy, oversized totes that were popular in recent years, though soft totes remain a practical staple for daily use. Color has become a way to make a statement here too, with bags in saturated reds, cobalt blues and warm browns standing in for the bold prints of previous seasons.
Footwear accessories, including belts and shoe clips, have seen renewed attention as a lower-cost way to update existing pieces, a trend that aligns with broader interest in getting more use out of items already owned rather than buying new ones each season.
Taken together, the message from Italian accessory design this season is one of confident simplicity: fewer pieces, but each one considered, well made and substantial enough to anchor an otherwise pared-back outfit.
